Shoppers can take advantage of a stack of special offers at independent retailers starting today.
Stoke-on-Trent takes part in Fiver Fest, a program which takes place three times a year to promote local businesses.
It will see a host of shops and restaurants in the town center offering customers two weeks worth of bargains for just £5.
For what’s on the news
Fiver Fest is held in over 100 cities across the UK to highlight the contribution of local shops and businesses to the economy.
It is also an opportunity for these companies to say thank you to their loyal customers who have supported them during the pandemic.
Lianne Shea, Marketing Manager at Stoke-on-Trent BID, said: “Fiver Fest takes place three times a year and now forms a big part of our promotions for our town centre.
“Independent shops and businesses are what make our town special and unique. Community support for local businesses has been amazing during lockdown, but it’s easy to revert to old shopping habits now that things are going back to normal. the normal.
“So it’s a little boost to say that our local businesses are still here, we’re still serving our community and we appreciate your support. And, of course, we’re of great value.”
The campaign, which runs from today (March 12) through Saturday March 26, is designed and managed by Totally Locally, an organization that has been giving local and independent retailers a boost since 2010.
Lianne said: “If every adult in Stoke-on-Trent spent just £5 a week in their local independent shops and businesses, that would mean over £50million a year would flow directly into our local economy.
“Which can lead to more jobs, a better main street, a stronger economy and a better place to live. It makes you think, doesn’t it?”
Totally Locally founder Chris Sands said: “Independent business owners are really inventive with their offerings, and we encourage them to promote the offerings of their neighboring businesses as well.
“Fiver Fest is about everyone working together to promote their city and main street as a whole, rather than individually. If there are many stores with great deals, the trip to the main street is really interesting and fun .”
