The best deals, opening hours, more

After feasting on turkey and toppings, shoppers traditionally flock to stores and malls on Black Friday to gobble up the best deals not just of the holiday season, but of the whole year.

Last year, the pandemic changed the way we shop on Black Friday, with more Americans shopping online than ever before. This year, as we continue to fight the fallout from COVID-19, many retailers have moved Black Friday to earlier this month to extend the top buyer’s vacation, soften crowds and increase sales, and tackle some of this year’s challenges, such as supply chain disruptions, labor shortages and shipping delays.

While Black Friday may no longer represent a singular day of epic sales, there is still a dizzying array of deals to look forward to in the coming days. The key to capturing the most coveted Black Friday purchases is preparation. Consider these tips to plan your Black Friday adventure, get the best deals, and save money along the way.

Grab a copy of the Times Union’s Thanksgiving Journal a day earlier: Pre-order the Thanksgiving Day edition of The Times Union – our biggest newspaper of the year – and you can pick it up between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Times Union Building, 645 Albany Shaker Road, Colony. The bulky paper will be filled with dozens of Black Friday ads, giving you plenty of time to ponder the deals and define your buying strategy. In addition to the ads, you’ll get Savings Source Magazine, Holiday Gift Guide, Puzzle and Cookbook, Holiday Magic Magazine from Good Housekeeping. Plus, while supplies last, you’ll receive the Save Around 2022 coupon book, usually on sale for $ 25. Visit timesunion.com/thanksgiving to order. You can also collect the paper and keep the coupon book at stores in the Capital Region, including Price Chopper / Market 32, Hannaford and Stewart’s Shops on Wednesday.

Download all the main apps from the store: Over the past few years, retailers have added more and more incentives for shoppers to download their apps. While the best deals will likely be available to non-app users as well, it makes sense to have access to every deal. There are also a number of independent apps that showcase coupons and promo codes online, and help you monitor your budget, manage wishlists, and compare prices. Some of the most popular include ShopSavvy, Shopular, Flip, and RetailMeNot.

Think about gift cards and in-store cash: Some retailers will offer gift cards instead of direct discounts. Kohl’s gives out $ 15 in Kohl’s Cash for every $ 50 spent. By combining this with their sales, the net discount increases dramatically. Target also always has an assortment of gift card offers. When factored into the final sale price, the savings will compete with the competition.

Prepare online: Walmart, Best Buy, Target, Kohl’s, and all the other department stores are going to have a ton of doorbusters online, so being prepared is essential. Create an account in each store with current information in advance and familiarize yourself with the site. Time will be running out. Also, be sure to link to the websites of your favorite retailers through a refund portal like Rakuten.com, TopCashBack.com, or RetailMeNot.com. There you will get back a percentage of the money you spend.

Buy the best stores: To help consumers maximize their Black Friday savings, personal finance website WalletHub polled nearly 5,000 deals from 21 of America’s largest retailers in Black Friday 2021 ad scans to see who is offering the biggest discounts advertised. in various product categories, such as clothing, toys and jewelry. Macy’s has the highest overall discount rate at over 58 percent, while Ace Hardware has the lowest at just under 12 percent. JCPenney, Belk, Kohl’s and Office Depot / Office Max rounded out the top five of the best places to save money.

Know when stores are open, sales start and times for the best deals: Most stores and all shopping malls in the Capital Region will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. Although Black Friday sales have multiplied daily since Halloween, some of the season’s biggest sales are still coming in the days leading up to Black Friday. You will need to know exactly when the official sales start online, so you don’t miss a thing. Here’s a breakdown of the Black Friday sale start times in-store and online, courtesy of BlackFriday.com and the best deals to help you get ready.
