Tomball Evangeline Bridal Boutique Offers a One-of-a-Kind Dress Shopping Experience

Candice Gold opened Evangeline Bridal with one thing in mind: she wanted it to be like Tomball – small, cozy, intimate and charming. Gold said the original location of the bridal shop on West Main Street, which opened in 2020, was much larger, but when her lease ended she told the landlord she had need a smaller location. The boutique moved to the east side of the slopes in September 2021. Gold said Evangeline Bridal is the only bridal boutique in the town of Tomball and grew up in the Tomball area.

Hoping to give brides a better experience than she had when shopping for wedding dresses, Gold said she decided to open a bridal boutique despite having no experience. in industry or running a business.

The boutique offers a selection of 100 to 150 wedding dresses, veils, accessories and conservation kits. When opening her shop, Gold said she didn’t want to look like big city bridal shops that carry thousands of dresses and book multiple brides at once without too much privacy.

Gold said she wanted to create an intimate and comfortable shopping experience where the bride feels special, whether it’s with free drinks, a dedicated stylist or staggered appointments. “It allows us to spoil the brides. … We really want them to feel so special. It’s their day. It’s all about them,” Gold said.

Gold said she and her team enjoy pampering brides and helping them find the perfect dress.

She said she and her stylists monitor brides’ body language as they try on each dress. Gold calls it “the swish” — a move brides tend to do when they like how they look in a dress.

However, helping find the perfect dress has become more difficult in recent months as pandemic-related supply chain issues have affected the store. Gold said dresses and veils take longer to ship. If a bride ordered a dress in March, it would normally arrive in May. But delivery times have been extended to July.

As such, she said she encourages brides to book an appointment earlier, choose from the Canadian designer available at the boutique – since the factory is not overseas – or select a sample dress to take home and alter. Gold said she needs to know which dresses will ship the fastest to fit the bride’s timeline, which means calling designers regularly.

“It’s a constant knowledge of all things when you’re with a bride,” Gold said.
